Don't carry through the TSA checkpoint!
I still have no fines or letter from the government about that, but just don't.
ETA - I got a permit 5-6 years ago and let it lapse because I didn't conceal carry anywhere. I never felt comfortable carrying in stores, crowds, etc. I keep one in my truck in case I need it, but didn't really conceal carry.

get something you are comfortable carrying... or you will never carry it.
