Only on the calmest of days and you will have to watch the weather.
The good news is, there is plenty of marsh to fish when its windy.
ETA: Lake Borgne can be a bitch when the wind kicks up and she can turn that way fast. I go in a 15' Vhull when it is nice and calm; but a couple of our return trips were kind of scary. Be very careful out there.

The one time I needed coast guard assistance was in Lake Borgne... near alligator point.. on our way in duck hunting hit and got tangled with a submerged gill net......
seas built to deadly fairly quick that morning too..
