quote:Thats the thing... Those writings are pretty unambiguous about the intent of the 2A.
I think I'll defer to the writings of the founders themselves.

From 1888, when law review articles first were indexed, through 1959, every single one on the Second Amendment concluded it did not guarantee an individual right to a gun.
Which merely restated the obvious - that nobody in this country prior to that had ever owned a gun and the second amendment was put into place to ensure that they never would have that right.
what a croc of shite.

A lot of this is addressed in the article.

What part of that did you find interesting and why?
I'm curious.

There it is. The core of the whole gun dilemma. Zero to do with safety...everything to do with FASCISTS running the show.
Of course, they hope to gain near absolute coercive power through the Healthcare mechanism, which would render the power to resist Fascist dictates by through gun...pretty much moot. What they have missed in that grand authoritarian scheme...is just what we are witnessing with the VA disaster. The layers upon layers of bureaucracy will make care so crappy and painful...that the folk will rebel against it - and them who implement it - and seek simple forms of care outside of the onerous system.
Whatever. Time marches on.

I think the historical context given by the SCOTUS in Heller is a lot more reliable than Politico
It really is a very informative opinion.

Well, the assertion that the 2nd ammendment was rewritten/reinterpreted in the last 50 years is interesting. I thought the discussion about oft used quotes (Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson) supporting 2A are taken out of context is interesting.

If they didn't want to confiscate guns then why do they continually try and reinterpret such a simple and deliberate sentence...all while claiming it is the NRA who has "reinterpreted" the law
there is no interpretation, no further reading is necessary (though it only bolsters the pro A2 argument)
The second amendment speaks for itself...crystal fricking clear
and that goes for the entire bill of rights

liberals like Feinstein scream at the top of their lungs that they support the second amendment all while completely supporting the idea that it was a vague, rushed and poorly thought out limit on government
they're speaking out of both sides of their mouth
It's no longer crazy, they fricking hate the constitution, they despise it. They're so much smarter than the framers who were, in their mind, these Neanderthal slave owning retards.
it just pisses them off...decades of brainwashing, and they've only lost ground
thank you call of duty

Taken out of context?
Stop and listen to yourself
10 unalienable rights. The first thing in the constitution. The cornerstone of the most important document in the history of mankind
How frickin stupid do you think guys like Jefferson and Madison were?
They made it so sweet and simple as to protect it from reinterpretation from assholes like you.
Brevity is the soul of wit.

So now direct quotes are simply taken out of context because said quotes don't agree with liberal ideology?

no shite, out of context....
It's just an easier game then saying what they really think.
We hate the second amendment and the framers were unworldy, poorly educated slave owning bigots
But try selling that

Here's some context
They just fought a fricking war against a tyrannical government...they wanted an armed populace to keep the government they just created in check
And A2 is the ultimate check
