Now defensively, I see much more difficult problems with the pair and with the scheme

Here's a question I have... would Monroe be considered a 4 or a 5 here on defense?

Davis can generally play either, but the lack of talent at the 5 in the NBA right now leads me to believe that Monroe could do decently defending the 5 for us if he has help from Davis.

Outside of Cousins and Howard, there aren't a tremendous amount of centers who demand attention these days.

The problem with centers that are "bad defenders" these days isn't that they get burned by Al Jefferson, it's that they are slow footed enough to get burned by the Pick and Roll to the point that you have to take your starting center out of the game.

According to Synergy Sports, he's much worse covering the roll man in the P&R than anyone else on the radar. PPP and rank:

Varejao .74 #15
Asik .66 #23
Ajinca .73 (not enough attempts to rank)
AD .79 #27
Smith .8 #32
Hawes (Philly) .82 #39
Lopez .92 #65
Stiemsma .95 #77
Withey .95 (not enough attempts to rank)
Koufos 1.03 #98
Gortat 1.03 #98
Monroe 1.19 #120
