Ferguson said although the name will remain the same, he and the other owners plan to bring a whole new menu, wine list and entertainment package to the new Tap Room.
“We will have a new digital jukebox, interactive music and a whole new TV package,” he said. “We are going to continue with the emphasis on craft beers, but we will also introduce new food items and a brand new wine list.”

Isn't that the 3rd time since it opened?

Beats me.
I would like to see more craft options on tap. They can still carry the Bud/Miller/Coors stuff in bottles.
I know BMC beers are the highest sellers. But the craft-only tap places in Houston and its suburbs do very well. Just create an atmosphere that people want to go to at night, and if a BMC drinker doesn't want to buy a bottle beer, fix them up with something simple like Lawnmower or Canebrake. In my limited time here in Houston, I've seen many guys request a Bud or Miller at a tap beer bar to first be disappointed when told those beers aren't carried. However, the bar tender fixes them up with a Lawnmower, and they end up liking and ordering more of it.

They need to drop those fricking prices. $6 for a canebrake is dumb

Wow. Didn't realize it was that high. Is a Canebrake even that high at Ruffino's?

Dunno but that was the last time I set foot in TR.. I'll buy a sixer for $9 or go drink it at the brewery.
Hell I think bud light and Miller were $4-$5
frick that.. I guess that's why I drink at my house 99.999% of the time.

it's $8 for a Canebrake at Luke in NOLA

I'd kick my own arse if I payed that

I think around 6 dollars is pretty normal for canebreak everywhere

They needed to get more food options. They're keeping the eber selection, but they needed to get a menu that complimented that.

They need to stop serving shite oysters too. And their drink prices are bad. 4 beers on tap plus $9 oysters was $41 before tip!

$9 oysters
I assume you mean for a dozen?
I don't find that to be an obscene price. $.75 oysters isn't bad.

Yeah the oysters are pretty shitty

The price was fine, the quality was god awful. They were dry and tasted bad. I couldn't swallow one without drinking anything or it would get stuck in my throat. It was the only time I've had truly bad oysters.
I have heard many say the same about their oysters.

Damn. That sounds awful.
I've not been to this place but if I ever do I'll avoid the oysters.

Yea they need a food menu again. I liked the sandwiches. Then they got rid of that. Then Chef Gregory was cooking there. But that didn't last long.
Glad they will get food though. When I was at Social on Saturday I was talking to one of the bartenders about it. Tap Room staff was getting mixology lessons and kitchen was being fixed up.
ETA: I have really enjoyed their crawfish. But only on the all you can eat for $30 days

Best news I've heard in some time.
They really need to drop some prices and they really need to get some good beers on tap. I mean, there's a half dozen beers Id be okay with drinking, but overall their selection is bad. I might as well stay at home a couple hundred yards away because the selection in my fridge blows theirs out of the water.

Is there a decent beer bar in Lafayette? If there is, I never hear anyone talking about it.
Posted on 5/14/14 at 10:25 am to urinetrouble
Not really. Tap room could be it, but struggles to keep me as a customer. Walk ons has the most shitty taps I've ever seen and I haven't been in months. Doubt I'll ever go back there. Social southern and table has the best selection in town IMO

As far as number of beers, Tap Room is the one. Green Room has less, but much better beers. It is downtown though and the crowd is younger.
There isn't anything close to The Bulldog (the beer bar, not the Laffy bar) or similar..
