I've been married 19 years. My wife has always been super close to her mom. It's not a problem.

I don't understand why you guys are being so over-dramatic.

Exactly. What a bunch of drama Queens.

I'm probably way older than most of you guys and I call B.S. on the daughter is sure to pick up on the mother's emotional problems.

There are so many reasons she could be that way. divorce, financial, menopause.

The fact she told the OP Mom was a little out of it is a good sign to me. She recognizes that. It's her mother. I'm sure she loves her unconditionally and still feels close to her despite her issues.

Predicate your relationship with the Girl on the girl. Not her family. ( except for looks, she's going to look plenty like Mom at her age) .
