Are you looking for long hikes in phx or sedona?

Oak creek brewing co. Is in Sedona. They have a nice little tap room and a bad arse patio. If I remember correctly it's kid friendly. There is a hotel in the top of the hill by the airport that has a cool little restaurant.

Sedona
One of the prettiest places I've ever been to. I was in like 7th grade when I went. I'd love to go back someday.

Hike down to Oak Creek in Sedona.
When I went a few years ago, they had a group of new agey looking women standing in a circle around another woman by the creek, who seemed to be channeling some sort of alien earth goddess. It was awesome.

Know of any good courses around? I'd have to rent a set of clubs as well

If you're going to be there a whole week, I'd spend a day and drive to the grand canyon. It's a pretty neat drive.

Better than Pink Jeep, rent your own Jeep from Barlow Jeep Rentals. I did that awhile back and it was awesome.
Sunrise/Sunset on the South Rim of the GC is something you'll never forget.
Sedona is heaven on earth... would love to live there.

in sedona you can hike for days and days. Pick a trail and go. I have done the devil's bridge. The trails fork and fork and you can literally get lost.
food over there..you can't go wrong. my favorite is barking frog
like a poster said , Oak Creek Brewery is awesome
for food in PHX, if you want to have some AWESOME Messican (pricey though) The Mission
if you want to be adventurous try pupusas from my motherland.
Also, if you are going to be up north. check out Jerome AZ. Its a funky little town!

Eat at the Elote Cafe in Sedona. If you go on a weekend night you will have to wait a few hours for a table but during the week it shouldn't be that bad. Its worth it!

For a short hike, Camelback Mountain from either side (Cholla side and Echo Side) in Scottsdale. For a long arse hike, hike all four peaks of Brown/Four Peaks. This one is sort of out of the way though. Plenty of trails on the northern part of South Mountain too (the south side is too easy and boring unless you have a mountain bike).
Postino's Wine Bar is my favorite place to take out of towners. $20 for a slab of bruschetta and bottle of wine on Mondays. They have three locations that are centrally and southeasterly situated in The Valley (PHX).
Tons of places to golf too if that's your thing. Enjoy your stay!

Looks like I'm gonna be well fed on this vacation based on the suggestions
. I'll try out the barking frog, the elote cafe, and the brewery at a minimum. Their menus all look pretty good and I haven't had some good messican in a while. Thanks for your suggestions everyone

Hike Piestawa Peak or tube the salt river while in Phoenix.
the hike is pretty tough............may not be good if you have smaller children.

CoffeePot for breakfast.
Kinda divey, but they serve over 100 omelette combos.
Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market for lunch. Funky sandwiches, great patio, cold beer.
Jerome has an old insane asylum that gives tours and is supposedly haunted. Whole town is built on the side of a steep mountain. Haunted Hamburger serves a great burger.
I freaking love Sedona. One of the most beautiful places I've been.

Go to Jerome, AZ. It's a "haunted" old mining town on the side of a mountain. Eat at the Haunted Hamburger. They have some bed and breakfasts too.
Slide Rock State Park is fun as well. Hike Bell Mountain in Sedona. I don't remember the name, but there is a Catholic church built in the side of a mountain that is pretty cool to visit.

Drive up oak canyon from Sedona to flagstaff. Very scenic. Stop at the scenic point at the top and buy jewelry from the Navajos.
DON'T buy jewelry from the shops. Wayyy overpriced. Buy directly from the Navajos and you can barter with them for turquoise stuff.
I second barking frog
And devils bridge is an easy and must do hike for tourists
