I been saying for two years now he was easily in the top 3 all time LSU RB

A little too high, perhaps if he could have played his freshman year he could have reached that standard.

I think Fournette can come in and be as good as hill right away.

I agree. I also agree with everyone who thinks J. Hill was a special player and the best RB since K. Faulk. I understand the desire to temper the expectations of any player until they prove it on the field. I just think people who don't realize just how talented LF is are going to be blown away when they see this young man perform on the field.

If he stays healthy and stays out of trouble (I believe he will). And if Cam Cameron can keep SEC defenses honest LF is going to put on a "show for the ages" in P&G.

yeah they act like only LSU fans are touting him as the greatest thing ever.. he's been talked about as a once in a generation rb by the masses.. of course he can be just as good and even better than hill..

and of course hill was something special. we all recognize that.

What Hill was developing, and what it will take Fournette some time to develop, is the vision/instinct for seeing and adjusting to hit the "hole". But of course, LSU fans will be willing to consign him to the scrap heap when his freshman YPC average is less than 10.

Jeremy Hill wasn't near a decent pass blocker his freshman year, but still started the last seven games. Hill also had to run behind a true sophmore LT, redshirt freshman LG, and a true freshman RT.

Fournette is nearly the same size and weight, but runs a low 4.4 and has more power. Fournette already has great hands and an OC willing to use them. Fournette also has 4/5ths of a starting OL return. Fournette will have no problem replicating what Hill did his freshman year.

Hill had 740 yards and 12 TDs in 8 games, using that metric, I'd say Fournette has around 1200 yards in 13 games. I will not temper my expectations. Great backs produce.

Then what is a good "barometer"? The fact that he went in the 2nd round of the draft? Enlighten us.

I think this game was a great barometer for the draft. Hill looked much better than Hyde playing the same competition. I think that game is what got him drafter over Hyde and showed his superiority to any other like sized backs this year.

As for the best LSU back, I will always be impartial to Faulk due to his consistency and the fact that he got better every year. We will most likely never see that again due to folks leaving early (especially at RB)

I did. And I think he'll score some touchdowns in the NFL.

I think hill had a bunch of way better highlights that they didn't show.

DJ Welter made tackles in the Iowa game, they're not the best barometer.

Iowa will still the 2nd best rush D we faced all year and in the top 20 nationally (17 spots better than LSU's rush D).

Hill looked good breaking tackles and eluding defenders against South Carolina his freshman year. That D had some pretty good players on it.

Hill was a great RB and he broke the SEC record for yards per carry for an RB with 200+ carries by averaging 6.9 ypc. That's awesome. He had great vision and big play ability. He's a tough act to follow.

Fournette is big, fast and has great feet & balance. He also had 740+ receiving yards with 6 receiving TDs last year (even caught a 36-yard TD in the all star game). So I think that's another dimension that teams really have to worry about with him. Guys like him usually aren't putting up big receiver numbers like that. LSU can do a lot with him.
