I wouldn't say "much" better. He may be more skilled but I just enjoy Haynes' guitar playing more for whatever reason.

Trucks is the more talented guitarist, by far. In my opinion he is the best guitarist there is right now.
But I agree, Gov't Mule is a more enjoyable listen, although I do like Tedeschi Trucks band as well.
Now if we want to start talking about some really great bands, let's discuss Panic! At the Disco vs My Chemical Romance.
