I don't see him listed anywhere for this weekends LHSAA state track championships. Is he not running this season?

Wouldn't let him run backwards.

Got DQ'd for running in untied high tops

St. Aug didn't enter any athletes in the district meet which renders them ineligible for regionals and state. Here's the NOLA write-up:
St. Aug not at District
Sad for such a storied program. Always loved watching their relay teams compete at state.

That's very interesting. I wonder if they knew they had some I eligible kids (grades) and didn't want to have to forfeit down the road once "the league" discovered the fault.

Read the link. Sunds like the coach shut it down because he felt like the kids weren't giving it 100%.
You gotta understand St aug though, that's a tradition rich, proud school and alumni base.
They instill discipline, and IF IF IF that's what happened, you gotta think the coach did it to teach a valuable life lesson.
Two sides to every story.

Kids not showing up to practice and probably not taking it serious enough it was a punishment because they couldve won state in a lot of events so the coach took that away from them.

The Josephite Brothers don't play.

I think it is great for a coach to instill discipline like that. But man that really sucks for the seniors who truly were busting their arse

Hopefully Fournette wasn't one of the guys skipping practice

It wasn't LF, it was the other jackasses

they had a great shot at winning the whole thing if not coming in second to catholic who always dominates the field events and does just enough in the racing to win.

quote:Man I just don't know if that discipline makes sense. So what are you telling the kids who bust their arse and do everything right? "Don't work that hard kids, because even if you do your life may still suck at the end. Just glide and hope you get lucky" I am obviously being a little sarcastic but you get my point

No, it's teaching them that you hold everyone accountable. I get that it is an individual sport, but they were going for a team championship and they failed each other.

quote:Yeah, but unless it was everyone being lazy, that's pretty fricked up. They could've at least let the kids go who were putting in work.

5alive- it may not be true but my statement is surely plausible don't you think? I think it's a shame that the kids who are "above board" (for lack of better words) do not have the opportunity to exhibit their talent after countless hours of hard work you know they've put in. I'm an old track guy myself which is the reason I've taken interest here.
