You need to get out more. A white guy cruising the ghetto late at night is seen as being there for only ONE reason by many cops. He most certainly WILL garner attention.

I live in f'n Alabama and I have two black families that live on my street. Their kids are out every bit as often as any other kids I see and at the same hours.
