Cutting the cord

Hello all.
Has anyone in here completely cut the cable cord? I have been seriously thinking about it for some time now but just don't know if I can pull the cord. My wife is obsessed with lifetime shows and bs crime shows on oxygen and other channels. I think I could get by with Netflix, iTunes and then Apple TV. I have friends that have been nice enough to provide me with their login information so I could stream comcast video, hbo go and download apps for various channels. I would go with an antenna to get local hd channels.
I would be saving 112$ / mo and then 300$ on the Sunday ticket package for yearly savings of 1644/year.
Anyone been successful in cutting the cord?

I did it for about a month and hated it, but I didn't have a device other than my laptop for streaming shows, no HBO go, and I love sports (especially Collegiate Football and baseball) so it was tough for me to adjust (also, LSU was paying post-season baseball at the time)

Yup. Perfectly content with local via antenna, Netflix streaming, and Target streaming.

If you're a sports fan, it's really hard to cut the cord.

Haven't had cable in years. $1600 is a shite ton of money to spend just to watch football. Anyway these days a lot of games stream for free, but usually not the best ones. You can catch some janky MAC games in the morning, but most Saturday afternoons I head down and mooch ESPN at my dad or grandma's house.

I've been moving toward cutting the cord for three years now and I'm about to pull the trigger and cancel my Dish service. Between amazon prime, hulu plus, roku and a good over-the-air antenna I'm not going to miss it at all. I finally settled on network attached tuners and a PC running Windows Media Center to handle the TV guide and DVR functions.

We did it over a year ago. I have a friend that works for Direct TV. He told me to turn in my boxes and only keep internet. He said they will more than likely not come out and cut the cable part. He said they get paid wether they actually do it or not. Well, they never came and cut out cable. This is with Cox though. We have roku boxes in all the bedrooms and the living room. We do have netflix, and I know how to find any show or movie online. So I just hook my laptop up to the tv and enjoy. My brother gave me his login info, so I still get espn3. I have found that doing this will even get your kids to watch less tv. I will never go back.

As others have written, I can't do it for the sports. I would then go to more Braves games than I currently do, that's almost $100/pop in the seats I like plus concessions. I really try to limit drinking and driving, and would really get tired of going to loud sports bars to watch college/pro football, lot to be said cooking out on the deck and watching football on HD. Being that I travel to about 1/10th of the LSU games I use to attend, that is saving me more than enough to not worry about cable cost, + would still need internet.

So you're a cheapskate that is just going to leach off of others. Got it.

Yes.
I will bring it back when football season starts. Then I will fricking cut it again after LSU and the Saints finish their last games. That's all cable has to offer as far as I'm concerned.
Buy a good antenna. The quantity and quality of digital broadcast far exceeds that available 20 years ago.
