I honestly dont know why anyone would want to buy season tickets for lsu football. The schedule is usually crap and you get 1 or 2 good games. Just save the 5k and spend a couple humdred bucks each year going to the games you want

I can understand that argument, there are plenty of people that are willing to just pay the donations to obtain season tickets that way they are theirs as long as they want them. So spend the donation to get to the level of tickets you want, and then they are yours.
You are right though, if you only want to go to the name brand games a la Bama, Ole Miss, Florida, etc, then I guess it makes more sense to pay straight up for those games.
eta sure would be nice to have top notch games played on campus rather than the neutral trips though. Biggest complaint around the fan base is crappy home schedule, along with miserable game day parking for most general fans, ads taking up half of the scoreboards, etc.

Boh, good point, but $25k is slightly outside of my tax bracket for white trash like me.

My opinion, is that in the near future, home scheduling will be ramped up. The ncaa will require it. No div 2 games will be allowed as well.

LSU probably sells a lot of tickets to the local games such as ULL and McNeese whenever they come to TS, but it would be a good idea for the AD to ramp up the home games. We've been hearing Alleva talk about the fan experience - well, if they want to improve the fan experience, the home schedule should feature more exciting games that are attractive if you want 100,000 people to show up and stay.
Argument for neutral games is expanding the brand into different areas and getting recruiting exposure. I can get that, but I hope they don't forget about accommodating the home fans that have supported the program for a long time.
Also, the thought is that it would be a competitive disadvantage to play all top notch teams instead of having those "tune up" games before league play. I get that as well, but I'll always point to 2011. Yes, arguably one of the most talented teams LSU has ever fielded, but IMO both Oregon and WV on the schedule kept the team focused. Also both of those games were away from home that year, but at least WV was a true home and home.

I am only in the 30's...but have four together in SE. Paid off that I graduated in 98 and picked wherever I wanted to sit. Then I moved to better seats and new ones opened around me to extend my two to four. I only pay 100 year, but that is so I can attempt to get away game and bowl game tix.

When I called the guy was pretty sketchy about it. I asked what I needed to be guaranteed baseball tickets and basketball upgrade. He kept responding "what do you want to give?".
I tried to explain that I'm not going to just give arbitrarily and sit in the gap as the same person who gave $100. From what I can tell $2,500 gets you basically the same thing as $100.
I understand that's probably what they have to say to maximize donation but someone off the street like me with 0 points it's not too helpful.
The best I got out of him was $2,500 "gets you in range for baseball tickets."'
Well that's all fine and dandy but I told him I know somebody right now that gave $100 for the first time this year and has 3 tickets in RF due to some lottery. Why would I give $2500 or $5000 if some slapdick gives $100 gets priority through some lottery.
The whole thing confuses the hell out of me.

When you think about it, it's a moving target for the cutoff rank of tickets because people keep accumulating pts, so there is no set rank that guarantees tickets. They should know the results each year though and if they'd share that information it'd help new guys like yourself make an educated decision.
Are those results published anywhere or is it usually word of mouth for the required rankings?
Also what kind of lottery was that for tickets?? I was under the impression it is all assigned based on pts

As a couple people have said, they have given $100 for 10 years. They now have 30+ points.
Say I give $2500 the first year. Those people are more entitled to tickets when my one donation eclipsed their entire record? This is the thing that seems flawed. To catch up to 30 points I would have to give $7500 it seems vs. some guy who gave $1000 over 10 years.
If I'm understanding this right, it doesn't really encourage me to cut a check.

I haven't heard of a lottery since bowl game assignments back in the early 2000s.
Somebody's telling stories.

I was told they gave $100 and got two RF baseball tickets in some lottery. Then there was a single next to them and the guy called and asked if he wanted it.
I work with the guy and have seen the tickets he has. Unless the dumbass just told me wrong, I don't know what to say.

It is somewhat of a flawed system. IMO, just start dropping a Benjamin every year. Start accruing points. Better late than never.

That's the way of rewarding being a member for such a long time- 3 loyalty pts each year of being involved.
Strictly dollar-wise, yeah giving a total of $1,000 helps less than $2,500, but that is how they give incentive to be a member. Seems like a $2,500 level for bonus pts would be reasonable, maybe 3 additional pts if you do that in a year or something.
You're right about it not encouraging you to cut the check, but repeating it year after year is where it pays off.

I guess that makes it easier to transfer the tickets to kids/grandkids?
Posted on 4/24/14 at 7:51 am to Boh
If the company is the holder no need to ever transfer. Also creates a Tax write off

I'm going to see what the guys says today and ill update the thread.

josh336.....The reason why some contribute to TAF, might be they actually graduated from LSU and want to give something back...not just pick out 1-2 games a year on the cheap. Additionally, season ticket holders, even those only 1/2 way up the priority list, can sometimes upgrade seat locations, get first priority to away games, neutral site games, bowl games as well as the new playoff game possibilities ! So, there's a little more to it than you make it out to be !

LSU took 30K from me in undergrad. They should be giving me something back.
But on a more serious note, this system is completely and utterly flawed. Whoever came up with this system let a bunch of cheap rednecks influence it.
Like I said before, 5K puts me thousands of spots behind some jabroni that gave $100 for 5-10 years and has 30+.
LSU shouldn't reward people for being cheap then have the balls to ask me for $5K to give me a tshirt and 6 priority points. So basically, I'm still at the back of the line kicking the can hoping to get tickets when I've lapped that guy 20 times in donations.
It's just arse backwards. In fact, I know there are people that have good seats for years and give absolutely nothing. But some poor fricker gives 15K and is sitting in the upper deck or outfield.
It's just flawed.
