Which Pick at 27 Could Start for Us?

I see a lot of people saying this pick or that pick would be bad for us because the guy wouldn't start his first year. Aside from that being short sighted, I was curious which player at 27 could come in and start for us.
We are a very veteran team and I'm not sure I see anyone outside of Mosley if he fell or a center if we reached that could be an every down starter.
Offense
QB: Brees
HB: Thomas/Ingram/Robinson
FB(part time starter): Lorig
WR1: Colston
WR2: Stills
WR3(part time starter): Meachem/Morgan/Toon
TE1: Graham
TE2(part time starter): Watson/Hill
LT: Armstead
LG: Grubbs
C: Lelito
RG: Evans
RT: Strief
Defense
DE1: Jordan
NT/DT1: Bunkley/Jenkins
DE2/DT2: Hicks
OLB1/DE2: Galette
ILB1: Lofton
ILB2(part time starter): Hawthorne
OLB2(part time starter): Haralson/Butler
CB1: Lewis
CB2: Bailey
CB3(part time starter): Robinson/White
FS: Byrd
SS: Vaccaro
S3(part time starter): Bush
Looking at who's expected to be at 27 and who we have, at best I see a guy breaking into a time share position.
I think this year more than ever we really should go full on BPA at whatever position is ranked the highest need in the bubble, be it guard, receiver, corner, linebacker, quarter back, half back, or whatever. I could even see getting a guy like Lewan if he fell for whatever inconceivable reason.

They've set themselves up nicely to do BPA

WR2: Stills

Yeah defensive line too. We could use another DT/NT if/when Bunkley gets cut next year.
Also no guarantee we can keep all 3 of Jordan, Hicks, and Galette.

XAVIER SU'A FILO

Really? I thought we were pretty young actually. Especially on the defensive side of the ball...
Only position I see would be an OT as a true "starter", but plenty guys could see field time on the majority of snaps.

his reports are very mixed, i'd rather go guard in round 2 or 3... i'd have yankey about su'a in 1.

I could maybe see Su'a-Filo but he might sit one year unless we cut Grubbs this year.
As for veteran, I meant more like a lot of guys with 2+ years starting. Yes we are young overall and have a few young starters like Stills, Vaccaro, and Armstead. But even those guys are extremely unlikely to get replaced by a rookie.

I think with any WR we might take, while maybe not listed as a "starter," would definitely start some games and get as many snaps as the starters.

I think a LB, WR, or CB has the best shot of getting some snaps. But I don't see any that would necessarily start over who we have outside of guys that would fall.

available roster spots that could be wide open in 12 months:
WR, RB, C, G, ILB, OLB, CB, NT.
Not sure we should be overlooking Nix.

quote:Yeah that's my point here. We shouldn't be looking for a starter this year. We should be looking at long term who will be the best player at a spot that we may be weak in in 1-3 years. We aren't lacking for actual full time starters this year outside of maybe center.

I think you can add DE to that with Jordan, Hicks, and Galette coming up soon.
And who knows, maybe Nix could be a guy that could get some serious reps this year.

A WR could "start" opposite from Colston with Stills being the slot.
A CB could definitely start over Bailey if he doesn't have much left in the tank and the rook knocks it out the park in TC.
