On one of the first weekends of my freshman semester at LSU, my roommate and I were hanging out in our dorm room (McVoy) drinking Jager and beer. Well my roommate gets super trashed as the night goes on and ends up puking in the bathroom. His girlfriend at the time was a frat party at the TKE house, and he was supposed to pick her up, so of course she was blowing up his phone and no answer. So then she calls me and I decide to go pick her up. I wasn't wasted or anything, but I was buzzing pretty good and could have definitely got a DWI if I got pulled over.

Well being a freshman and all, I really had no freaking clue where I was going, I just knew the frat houses were down Darymple and I figured it wasn't that far so what the hell. Well on Darymple I'm driving really slow looking for this place, and then I turned the wrong way down the one-way loop. Cop lights flash immediately behind me. My stomach dropped and I just knew I was going to jail.

I get out the car, the cops (LSUPD) ask me if I've been drinking. I said no sir, I'm just trying to pick a friend up from a party, and I'm a freshman new to the area and just a little lost. They ask me what frat house the party is at, then tell me to get back in my car and follow them... they showed me where the house was.

I had a rabbit's foot up my arse that night

I don't know how this one slipped my mind. Spring Break 2009. It's around midnight. Been drinking all day steadily but not blackout or anything. Get a call from 2 friends who need a ride back from Florabama. It's 15 minutes from our place.. I'm drunk and with a girl. I tell them to frick off. They call back shortly and beg me to come get them saying their ride left, no one else will answer, etc. I tell them I'll come get them if they buy us both Waffle House. For some reason this was enough for me to risk a DWI.

We get in my truck. Both of us have whiskey drinks in our hands. I have a radar detector so I'm not really paying attention to my speed. 5 minutes later. Blue lights in the rear view mirror. I am as calmly as I can explaining to this girl that she will need to drive my truck back to the house, as I am about to go to jail. She's freaking out. We put our drinks in the cup holders in the back seat.

Cop approaches window. Says he was following us and "pacing us at about 20mph above the speed limit." Asks where we're going and if I'd been drinking. I just tell him we are going to pick some people up from the bar and had not been drinking. He tells us to just slow down and let's us go without even a speeding ticket.

I still can't get over how lucky I was.
