If he wants straight up good seafood I'd go to Roberto's on river road south of the city a little bit.
However, the ambiance of the place may make him feel awkward to be there by himself.
Louisiana Lagniappe is legit as well.

Robertos and Louisiana Lagniappe would be my two suggestions as well.
