I've read the many wonderful things Tiger Fans have posted here about Walter Hill over the years.
I am Walter's daughter-in-law. If anyone would like to post a message to his widow and sons, I'll be sure they get it.

Grew up listening to Walter Hill on the radio...calling the Tiger games with John Ferguson. Many fond memories. Sympathies to the family.

My first memories of LSU football are of me and my family crowding around a little radio at my grandfathers camp listening to Walter Hill and John Ferguson.
Your father in law helped make me an LSU fan at an early age. May he rest in peace.

sorry for your loss but who is Walter Hill?

Grew up listening to him with my dad in Georgia. He was a big part of me being an LSU fan today. Jim Fergerson, Walter Hill and Pat Screen.

Walter Hill was the color guy/analyst with John Ferguson doing play by play in the pre-Hawthorne/Doug Moreau days.

My condolences to your family - I spent many a night listening to John Ferguson and Walter Hill broadcast LSU games. I once literally drove to the top of a mountain in southern Colorado so I could pick up WWL and listen to a game.
Ferguson would always start the game by saying..."thanks Walter and welcome to Tiger Stadium as
__________ approaches the ball".
Great memories....may he and John be reunited in the great broadcast booth in the sky.

He was also sportscaster at WBRZ. I knew him when he occasionally dropped by the Cotton Club after the 10PM news. Great Guy!!

Some of my fondest LSU memories were the John Ferguson / Walter Hill radio broadcasts of LSU games. Family huddled around an inexpensive radio on Saturday nights in the fall dreaming of what it would be like to be in Tiger stadium.
Prayers to the family...

My fuzzy recollection is I was able to pick up the broadcasts from a station in Shreveport. My soon to be wife who was not from La questioned my sanity on Saturday nights in the fall.

Condolences and prayers for the family. He was an important member of the best Tiger broadcast team ever.

I heard him many times in the late 60's and 70's as a teenager and in college. Always liked him. When I was in B.R, in 73/74 and 80-88, I heard or saw him on TV often. We'll Miss him.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Walter Hill, but he was a big part of my childhood. My Dad and I listened to the games every Saturday night in the Fall on KWKH. Those were great times.
Sorry to hear this, but it seems appropriate that I would hear about it on a Saturday night. I'm sure Mr. Hill is in a very good place right now.
