Downtown Houston "nightclubs"?

Meeting up with friends in a few weeks. I am more of a pub guy. Haven't looked to go clubbing since chasing tail days which would be 1999-2000.
One of the wives wants to dance a little so hence the "club" search. Catch is we are all 40 give or take a year or two.
What suggestions do any of you have? Maybe live music place for dancing?
Again I am not 25 anymore not looking for standing in line and bottle service. The festivities will start at The Icon Hotel.
My thought is Sambuca. It is no longer the cool new place. Has live music and some tail of all ages to look at. Next to Capital Bar I believe which I thought was awesome and quiet. Could get my "Don Draper" on and order an Old Fashioned and sit in a leather chair etc. etc.

Not downtown, but one must soak in the social armageddon which occurs nightly at the Remington Bar in the St Regis, aka The Regal Beagle, at least once in their life.

Market Square downtown has some cool bars. Okra is a charity bar, very cool concept and inside looks awesome. There is also Pastry Wars which is newer and has the same owner as Anvil. A few more around there. Flying Saucer is downtown as well. Sunny's around 2:00am gets reaaally weird I hear.
Edit: did not see the dancing part. Nevermind, not a lot of dancing at thesr places.

The only place a 40 year old can go to dance and not look out of place is a gay club or a Jazz bar like Sambuca or Red Cat.
