Guilty.
Not so much paddle for me, but practiced reaching for rods and stuff.
ETA: nice yak OP

Yes, but only to make sure the paddle would clear the rod holders and other stuff
And to figure out where to mount the cleats
And then sometimes I just sat in it and drank a beer instead of sitting on the sofa because I'm giddy like a school girl

I may get one of these soon.
Question on your setup though - would you do better swapping the fishbag and your cooler? Seems it would be hard to get fish to the bag behind you and the crate without turning around, getting tippy, etc.

Looks good. I'm leaving Lafayette after work to go pick mine up this evening. Any tips/suggestions?
Umm...measure twice, cut (or drill) once
Oh...and use the right tool for the job (as far as attaching hardware and whatnot goes). Well nuts kinda suck for anything that'll be under stress. Tri fold rivets are much better, but they don't work in corners. Remember this before you drill the holes and then proceed to frick up 2 rivets and your pole clips and wonder WTF you're gonna do to attach this thing now that you've already got 2 holes drilled

Always. They're very modest.

most of the time i just rest my legs on top of my fish bag so you can always do that too.
that's mostly cause I'm lazy tho

Looks good, but I hope you weren't one of the ones giving me shite about bringing 5 poles on my yak in a thread last year.
That wouldn't have been me, I take 10 sometimes in the little 16' cajun special(plus whoever is fishing with me brings theres). There's no rod box in it either
I probably won't take more than 4 in the yak though. 2 or 3 when fishing the marsh. 4 for bass. 4-6 if I might wanna bass and bream fish.

I can stand in my 12' heritage angler from academy and fish perfectly fine (even in a pretty good wind) but I'm also 6'2 185 and only 20 years old
Yea I'm 6'3" 175, in pretty good shape and pretty young so I think I'll be fine standing unless the wind really pics up.

Drilled holes and used zip ties, 2 per rod holder.
I have an idea for a different way to attach them but I'm not sure yet. May give it a whirl if I'm bored over the summer.

Possibly. I've thought about it. I'm gonna figure that out as I go I guess. It seems like I should be able to turn around and kneel on the seat pretty easily though to reach over and put fish in. I'll play it by ear. Gonna work out a lot of kinks this weekend hopefully.

Nice. When I was sacalait fishing from my pirogue I literally velcroed a raised metal framed stadium seat to the seat in the pirogue. Total game changer. The previous lack of back rest would get pretty brutal on the abs and hip flexors after a couple hours
