I haven't switched to safety razor yet, still using a Shick 5 blade, but I do use soap and a boar brush now.
So much better than shaving cream.

I still break out a Schick hydro every now and then. Always use the good soap now.
OP I started with an Edwin Jagger 89 lbl. The handle DOES get slick though.
As is mentioned you can spend just as much if not careful. Buying new handles and 10 different brushes.
I would also suggest ebay and a Gillette Tech. There are a million of them out there. Under 20 bucks. Unless you buy mint or still in box. I have a "no date code" tech. Which means it was produced between 1946-1950. Just cool to know I'm shaving with something 60 years old.
That's if you want to take time to disinfect razor.
