Counting cards is not illegal but the casino sets rules that it follows and mandates players follow. If you are caught counting cards they refuse to pay. I have no sympathy for the casino but this is similar to counting cards. Phil noticed the pattern on the deck (from reading this might be a common problem) and instructed the dealer to turn cards certain ways.

If counting cards they don't and can't refuse to pay. They will ask you to play another game or leave, and thyley will trespass you, but they can't refuse to pay. And, in New Jersey they can't even trespass you for counting. Thank you Ken Uston, for standing up to those bastards on that issue.

Not quite true...they just don't let you play anymore. They'll escort you to cashout counter, let you get your money, and take you to the door with the threat of trespass charges if you come back.


That or take you to the back room and beat you.
