Draft Needs

I know our needs are at OT, WR, OLB, CB..but with signing Champ Bailey, do we still think about drafting a CB in the 1st round. It could be good for him to learn under Champ, but I would rather us go with a WR or OLB. Thoughts?

OT
I think a more reasonable need is guard.

Maybe a swingman g/c even more.

I know we need a center.
That's actually a hole.
But I think a late round guard would also be a decent idea due to our aging (and pricey) starters.

Good point. Somebody to come in and bump one of them would be nice...get younger and cheaper at the same time.
If Lelito is actually a valid option as starting center though, that leaves them with zero back-up on the interior, other than one practice squad guy. Wonder if DLP or Goodwin might be there in the future? If so, not such a problem as Lelito becomes the swingman backup.

Center is the only hole, as has been said. WR and CB could use a young legit starter. LB could use an upgrade and the benefit of knocking off a high salary next year. G could use a cheaper salary next year, as could DT/NT, the difference being that DT has a cheap starter.
Other than that, BPA is what we should be looking at.

I don't think me or hoodoo either one were talking about an early round interior lineman. As for myself, 4th or lower where they do tend towards need picks.

OT, WR, another Pass rusher
I think we take CB with potential later
If there is a legit deep threat WR i would like that.

Yes we still need a corner unless P rob can do something with his career. Which is quite possible actually.

So even if one(or more) of these 3 become(stay in Bailey's case) legit, we might not be able to keep them.

Though, just like pass rusher, if an Olineman is the clear BPA I think we take him.

I honestly would be happy with any of the top 3 corners (Fuller, Verrett, Roby) in that order.

Why do people think we need an OT?
Because Strief is the same age as Grubbs and Evans. Armstead only started three or four games last year and got destroyed by the Rams. OT is arguably more important than OG/C on the offensive line. Armstead had a hand surgery after only playing in a handfull of games and isn't a proven commodity yet. Strief isn't the epitomy of health.
Not saying it's a "need", but these are what some people might be thinking.

In order of need, I'd say: CB/C, WR..RB (Bush/Sproles type)....OG, OT, DT.

I do not see how any reasonable person can not think WR is a pretty big need.
Colston is our de facto #1 and he is on the down slop of his career. Stills is a good #3/solid #2. Outside of that he have a disappointing Toon and an injured Morgan. Don't let Drew Brees lighting up a defense fool you. We are not strong as a WR unit.

He is a solid #2, but a really good #3. If we need him to play as our #2 WR this year, we would be OK, but IMO we would be much better with a legit #1 to bump Colston to #2 (for the short term) and have Stills be our #3. Throw Graham into the mix and that is a pretty good receiving corps.

I doubt this happens. Not many rookie receivers make an impact in the NFL. We can bring a guy in who can get snaps on the outside and prepare himself to be the guy in the future, but short of trading up for Watkins I don't think there is any scenario where we draft a guy and he instantly steps in as our #1

Graham is our #1.
Colston is our #2.
Stills is our #3 now that Moore is gone.
If anything, we need a receiver out of the backfield (a la Bush/Sproles).

In addition to Lewis and Stills to eventually replace Colston and Bailey/Robinson/White.
We have one young legit starter at each spot but two would be great.
Also on OT, Strief is around at least 2 more years, but more than likely will see 3-4 of the 5 years. And Armstead was blown up in the first half of the panthers game and has been solid since.
He wasn't even active for the rams game.
