OT Parents: anyone else going to Discover the Dinosaurs this weekend?

Discover the dinosaurs at the river center
Think it's worth it? If she wants something I'm just gonna pull it up on Amazon and order it for her. Not falling for their overpriced toy racket.
But other than that it looks cool. Anyone have any experience with these sorts of things?

I work with dinosaurs. Why spend my weekend discovering that which I work with every day?

My interest in dinosaurs has waned since I found out, in an OT thread, that Stegosaurus' and Tyrannosaurus' were not even alive in the same time period.
If those two can't fight it out I have no interest in such creatures.

Depends on the age of your kids, older than 8 or so, meh

Can also be pretty intense for young kids. We took my daughter to one of those exhibits with animated dinosaurs when she was about 4. She was ok with the size and the movements, but when they started making noise she freaked. I guess you have to hit it at just the right age unless they don't scare easily.

I remember seeing Jurassic Park when it came out. I was on Kadena AB in Okinawa. The kids in the row before me all started crying about this point in the movie...

Looks interesting but would probably scare the pants off my 7 year old daughter.

So you took your kids?
Oh, wait.
You have to have sex with a woman for that to happen.

Agreed. We went last year. I think we paid about $100 for two adults and two kids, which includes the interactive exhibit.
Main exhibit was a walk through that was roped off, although some parents let their kids through the ropes to touch the dinos. It wasn't that scary. The interactive exhibit had two ride on dinosaurs with long lines, some bouncy houses, and other activities, some which you had to pay extra for (fossil dig I think)
Overall, I think it was cheaply done and mainly a money grab but the kids liked it.

Most things of this nature are like that if you buy all the lagniappe.

This is what matters.

This is true and more power to the event organizers for making money.
But I've been dodging the tv commercials this week so the little man won't get upset about not going because we already have plans both nights.

It's been awesome. The kids are loving it. If you come early you can ride and do it all with almost no one else there. My kids played for half an hour with NO LINE, did all the jump houses, slides, rode all the dinosaurs, took pictures, etc. for 30 minutes without interruption. We just bypassed the exhibits, blew through the gift shop and went straight to the activities and there was no one else there.
After they played for a long time and there finally started to be lines, then we just went back and looked at the exhibit.
If you know how to do it right, it's a great outing for the kids.
Also, surprisingly few trashy people.

That looks fun. Probably would be weird if I went and not brought kids.
