Brooks is one of the best Saints quarterbacks. He actually brought some excitement to the team and took us places we almost never went.. Sure he had his herp derp moments but regardless he was one of our better quarterbacks.. I was very appreciative of the way Brooks came onto the scene in New Orleans. I kind of remember a song about him but I was so young around then..

I do agree with others about not enjoying Brooks final season or seasons where he seemed to not care much.. But he still was one of our most effective quarterbacks given such a poor history

Kerry Collins quit on the team and decided he didn't want to be here after Ditka gave him a shot at redemption.
Yeah but.... GOLD NUMBERS ON WHITE JERSEYS AND AWESOME HATS!!

That drove everyone nuts. However, on the field product, dude is in the Top 5 best, not worst. He ran a very productive offense and won a good number of games with an idiot for a head coach.
I agree that he was one of the best Saint QB, he still pissed me off, though.

Probably the ones who were always 3rd string.
Tough to say someone who was good enough to be a regular starter was the worst in team history. Maybe you meant this to be a list of the worst starting QBs in Saints' history?

I probably said it when this thread started last year, but Bobby Hebert pissed me off more than Aaron Brooks. Wagging his finger at his WRs every time he threw an incomplete pass like he was perfect, and then his holdout in 1990 that wrecked the best defensive team the Saints ever had and forcing Jim Finks to trade a 1, 2 and 3 for a piece of garbage like Steve Walsh.
And then he literally tried to fly around the Superdome like a Falcon the first time he came back to the Superdome with Atlanta.

I posted this last year when talking about Brooks.
In Saints history, he's 3rd in completions, attempts, and yards.
Brooks is 2nd in touchdown passes.
And he has 13 rushing TDs, second among QBs to Archie's 18.
Yeah, a lot of people hate him for quitting on the team. I personally don't really care for him because of that. However, he really is the second or third best QB in Saints history.

Drew Brees and Aaron Brooks.

Jeff Blake is the most underrated Saints QB in history. I think our franchise fate changed when he became a Saint!

Brooks was ok till he hurt his shoulder after that he was never the same QB.

I was never a fan of Aaron Brooks. Yes he did play well some times, but he aggravated the hell out of me when he would do dumb things and then smile about it. I feel too much praise was shined upon him. I was glad to see him go.
Secondly I remember watching the Saints as a kid and watching that idiot Archie Manning running all over throwing passes and getting sacked and fumbling like the bafoon he was. I heard the stories "If only Archie had a decent line" hog wash. He sucked.
The Saints have been notorious for years for not having a real quarterback. Drew is the only one I have ever really liked. Yes he forces throws sometimes trying to do too much, but by far he is the best.

1, Danny Wuerffel
2. Heath Shuler
3. Steve Walsh
Those are the top 3 the others are very debatable. Man I will never forget when Wuerffel almost had his head ripped off

Is it possible that Brooks could be one of the best AND worst in Saints history? There are plenty to choose from that are horrible....but what makes the worst of Brooks bad was that he had all the talent and none of the drive to be the best. Those other guys simply sucked and were terrible. Brooks could have been a great QB for a long time in the NFL if he had just put in an ounce of work off the field and given a shite.

Then why is there never any hate on that level for Kenny Stabler? He was a Super Bowl winner who by the time he got to the Saints was a drunk collecting a paycheck.
Same for Kerry Collins. Mike Ditka claimed him off waivers and saved his career, and he thanked by playing awful on purpose and showing no desire to be a team player because he knew he was going to sign a big contract elsewhere. His last game as a Saint in the Superdome vs. Buffalo was an abortion. I've been pissed off at Saints games and I've been embarrassed by their performances before, but that was possibly the only game where I felt like one player cheated me out of my money.

I agree about Stabler and Collins. No doubt. But Brooks was different in that he was here longer and was essentially at one point considered a long term franchise QB. Neither of those guys were considered a long term fix, although Collins could have started out being thought of that way....but he was only here 1 year.

I also hold a special hatred for Stabler because they traded Archie Manning so that Bum Phillips could have "his boy" at quarterback. The Saints finally had a defense for the first time in team history, and Bum trades away Archie so that this fricking drunk can choke away ball games on an epic level.
That being said, I'm not so bitter to think he belongs in the same sentence as Heath Shuler and Danny Wuerffel. Stabler still gave the Saints .500 seasons. And I feel similarly about Aaron Brooks. He had issues and he shouldn't have played hurt in 2002, but he was never a laughably bad QB until 2005, and that entire season was beyond his control.
