It should simply be absolutely transparent with no limits.
With no limits to spending then person A can buy all the "speech" he wants, effectively drowning out the speech of everyone else around him who can't buy that much "speech". It gives him unequal access and favor and makes his vote inherently more valuable than anyone else's. If you think that that's a good thing then I guess that's you're right but to me it will create an oligarchic class that will result in a very small number of people holding the vast majority of political power. The republic will essentially be dead.
It's already been happening for awhile but it's going to speed up big time in the coming years between Citizens United and this decision today. Dark days indeed.

So to fix this, Fedgov restricts person A's speech.
Brilliant

here's a hint champ...if there is not as much power at fedgov, they won't spend the money there.
your solution is akin to trying to stop drug deals by removing money from society. It doesn't stop any of the backdoor bullshite.
either you're exceedingly naive, or stupid.

If you want to take money or of politics, limit the powers of the federal government. A powerful government only plays into the hands of those who have the money too wield the power. A small government with a very simple tax code and simple, transparent laws can't be manipulated in secret.

in other words "there shall be the right to infringe on the freedom of speech"
