If I lay st aug sod over the top of my lawn which is currently centipede, will it take over?

Centipedes will grow in. From my understanding Centipede is one of those "can't kill" types.

Even if you fertilize often?

I put down 10 pallets (1/2 of front yard) of centipede about 10 yrs ago in my front yard and my front yard is now all St Aug. St Aug was here before I leveled, grated and sodded. my back yard is all centipede (seeded). but I cut my backyard real low and my front yard about 4-5" tall. My kids like the shirt backyard to play on and I like a tall/thick front yard for looks

Centipede likes the sun more than St Aug. So that will have a lot to do with it.
Just sod over the centipede with St Aug
Ive gotta shady area where the St Aug is kickin arse over some centipede.
Plus the ST Aug greens up earlier

If you don't Round Up the centipede it might not. And do it twice or even three times. I put St. Augustine over Bermuda that wasn't very healthy and rounded up the Bermuda once and then put 3 inches of topsoil over that. The Bermuda is now trying to make a comeback in some areas, very much to my surprise. Zombie Bermuda.

In my experience, st aug is much more vibrant grass than centipede...I have sprigged st aug into an existing centipede lawn and with good watering, the st aug takes over the centipede in a few years...
I am actually ready to replace my centipede back yard with st aug as well...centipede just grows too slow for me....

Centipede is so much nicer when taken care of in my opinion. My shite grows nice in thick but I keep my mower height pretty high

How long do you have to wait after spraying round before you can sod and do you think I should scalp real low before I sod?

Bermuda is stronger and more tolerant than St. Aug.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of of Bermuda vs St. Augustine. I think I am going to have to do alot of research before I take this on. All I know is that I am done with Centipede, its never going to be a dark green great looking yard.
