I will say that I think it's dumb that each league does it's own thing. Either do one or the other.
But I guess that's how baseball is. Each park has it's own dimensions, tall wall, tiny or huge foul ground. Guess it won't ever change.

That part was always weird to me. Is it the only sport where the playing area isn't standard from venue to venue?

The fact that the world series is played by two different sets of rules is absolute insanity.
