Bradley gained a lot in Italy.

I don't compliment the worldwide leader often, but this extended coverage on espn3 has been pretty good...

Bradley may be my favorite US player ever. He doesn't get the photo shoot bullshite, but he delivers like a boss. I'm a big fan.

His post game interview was great. We obviously don't see what goes on behind the scenes and in training, but It seems that he's the real captain of this team. And that's not a shot at Deuce, he deserves it. But Bradley is no doubt our best and most irreplaceable player. He looks really comfortable with where he's at right now.
Side note, he seems to be getting his 'Murican accent back too. Rather than that weird Euro-American twang that his dad has.

If Green isn't a regular on the Bayern first team next season he needs to go on loan somewhere.

A few random points:
- If Omar starts all three games, we're all but guaranteed to go 3 and out. (We might be 3 and out anyway, but still...) He's the same ball-watching, bad giveaway Omar that he was in 2010. Jurgen would be will served to reach out to anybody who has, can or will play CB for the US.
- Dempsey looked better.
- Donovan looked worse.
- Bradley is a goddamned terror.
- Brad Davis is not a full international player, and it showed.
- Beltran and Parkhurst were surprisingly capable.
- Green looked like an 18 year old, trying to play above his level. If the plan is to have him play minutes in Brazil, he really needs to be on the field with the actual Bayern Munich in the next month. You could see flashes of skill, though.
- Yedlin looked really good, but it's hard to get a read on 20 minutes of an outside back in a game that's that wide open.
- Though his athleticism gap shows as the talent level rises, I think Wondo might have to go to Brazil. If we need a goal in the last 15 minutes, I'd rather him coming off the bench than a Terrence Boyd type.

Agree with all of that, Sheep. And yeah we need a CB. Goodson won't cut it in place of Omar. Cameron hasn't played there enough.
How's Jay Denerit looking these days? What position does Orozco play now?

I don't think it's as big of a deal that Green plays at Bayern this year. I think it's a bigger deal that he gets into more USA camps though. A debut against Mexico in a packed house is bound to cause some nerves. I don't think he's ready to start but Brek Shea is terrible. If Shea is the guy he needs to beat out, all he may need is a little time.

Wondo is like the Chris Carter of USA Soccer....all he does is score goals.

How did y'all think Parkhurst looked at LB?
I thought he played well. Maybe it's just that he looked less ragged and desperate than Beasley always looks to me. Part of it may also be that Mexico seemed to attack our right side more, but unlike Beasley, watching him didn't give me a sinking feeling that we were going to give up 5 to Portugal.
If Jurgy doesnt play Fabian at LB, would you rather Beasley or Parkhurst based on what you've seen so far?

I only got to watch the first half (brilliant start time) and read about the 2nd half but here goes:
He has seemed to regress lately. Besler is a lock. As to who plays next to him is anyone's guess. I think Goodson has looked solid in his last few appearances and is worth a look. I would rather keep Cameron at RB
Much better. I think it also has a lot to do with...
Night and day when is on the field. He bossed the 1st half.
And I will also say this: I have given Beckerman his fair share of stink but still say he has a spot on this team for killing off games in the end. But if we want to roll out a diamond midfield at the WC, his positional discipline will allow Bradley to get forward a lot more and that looked promising last night. We might need to tie a rope to Jones to Besler if we roll the diamond with him in the back
He looked nervous to me which is not what you want from a guy in Brazil
I was pleased with Parkhurst overall. Beltran had some good runs forward but made me nervous in the back
Wondo is definitely ahead of Boyd. He is a pure poacher and at the end of a game sometimes that's what you need. It will be a numbers game though. With Green supposedly promised a spot, it might come down to Wondo and GAM. A numbers game at this point. And Jurgy likes to play GAM out wide which helps his case.

I have a tactical question too.
If we start a WC game in that 4-4-2 and go into halftime up 2-0 or 1-0, does Klinsmann (would you) sub out a forward in favor of an extra defensive mid for the 2nd half?

Why the frick would you play our best fullback at center half?
Davis and Gonzo were liabilities.
Cakes looked out of shape.
Deuce looked like vintage Deuce.
Green and GAM looked nervous.
Beltran's not going to be part of the 30.
If Lex Luthor plays like that in Brasil his MLS excursion will come to a quick end as one of the big clubs will throw money at him.

Also did it feel like the camera was in a blimp above the stadium to anyone else? Felt like it was really zoomed out to me

I like Parkhurst. I think he fared well last night, but like you said, Mexico attacked the right almost exclusively.
Posted on 4/3/14 at 9:10 am to uway
Assuming the obvious changes from last night (outside backs, not Davis, Jones for Beckerman), I'd be okay with replacing whichever wide mid tired first at 55, replace whichever forward tired first (with Beckerman) at 70, and the other forward with somebody to chase at 80.
I don't know that I would go into a shell before the 60th-65th minute.

No. We wouldn't be able to hold on that long. I think our best D is still a good O that can hold the ball in possession in the other team's half with Bradley distributing.

Agreed, but being two years younger than Cameron and Evans, I won't be surprised if he's more involved in the 2018 cycle.

Someone will pay him more than $6.5m per year?

I'm bound to agree, or at least I want to, but I think Toronto has him on lockdown and will want to hold on to him. Also, Euro teams won't pay him as much as TFC is and none of them are going to want to pay 10mil or more for the transfer fee.
He would literally have to be man of the tournament to move, I think.
Also, does anyone else think that Donovan is best suited at this point as being one of the forwards in the 4-4-2? He played at the top of the 4-2-3-1 in the 2011 GC final and looked good there, plus he plays up top for LAG.

It was obvious that neither he nor Green can/want to play an ounce of actual defense against a quality side, based solely on last night. So playing him in the outside mid role is worrisome, especially when Zusi plays defense at a decent level as does Fabian.
