yes....people like me and you do. but, the big dogs just buy them for many many other reasons.
Sure...but there has to be an interest for those being given tickets. Despite the now decade plus attempt by elected officials and media in Lafayette, the vast majority of locals still root for LSU. I'd wager that there are more LSU football season ticket holders in the Acadiana area than there are asses in seats at most USL football games. Those folks who root for USL (I'm an alumnus and reserve the right to call the university that forever) are almost exclusively connected to the school in someway. That's not at ALL a bad thing, but to rival the national powers (like the one an hour away in Baton Rouge) you can only do that by virtue of a strong and interested sidewalk alumni base. It's what gets you big time conference affiliations, revenue and national name recognition.
Point being...an average sports fans with no particular affiliation to a school would still, without question, prefer a day at Tiger Stadium versus a day at Cajun Field if given the choice of free tickets.
And look...as an alumnus , it's always pained me to pull against the school. But as a life-long LSU fan, I've always found it disgusting that far too many USL fans are worried about LSU than they have traditionally been with their own success. I know this first hand having listened to this garbage for the past 2 decades plus. I'd never suggest USL "know it's place" and remain content to stay there...but what's the harm in enjoying your own success without constantly feeling the need to measure your dick against one of the most well endowed players in all of college athletics? It's a recipe for unhappiness and forced otherwise indifferent LSU fans to pull support for you rather than toss a little your way.
