That's less than 5% of the Alaskan population. That number represents the communist/hipster contingent.

Keep the U in USA!

I bet more than 30,000 Oregonians would sign it. Patriotism and pride of country is low outside of the Deep South.

They can just move to Russia and we'll finally get to drill those oil sweet spots. Win/win

can we just give them Sarah?

Most Oregonians up here would like to be Obama's bitch.
Plenty of patriotism up here, just plenty of stupid. Same is in the deep south.

Putin must be worried about the Russian speaking people in Alaska.

Louisiana petition to secede had 38,000 signatures.

Yeah, he might take it over on his own.

Patriotism and pride of country is low outside of the Deep South.
now, all you have to do is collect frick trophies, draw one or more of these government programs and you are set.
it is extremely fricked up, imo

All that pristine tundra that the left is trying to protect would be drilled within a year...

Let them leave! And after 6 months of being Russian ruled, let them come back saying "I'm sorry" and "we fudged up... can we please come back?". I can't stand when people bash on this country like we are the problem, but at least this country gives you the ability to voice your opinion. If the US is sooo bad, there is nothing keeping you here. Let the door hit you in arse on the way out!
ETA: This petition is probably signed by outsiders or dead folks. Sounds similar to Mary Landrieu voters...

Most of those signatures are probably not Alaska residents. The whitehouse.gov petitions don't differentiate by state so anyone can sign them.

Hell the petition was probably written by a Russian and is being signed by Russians, having lived in Alaska, I am pretty sure no one up there would ever want to join Russia.
