I'll always love the guy, even if they were to wind up trading him. I just didn't want to pay him what he reportedly wanted.

Until actual football starts again we have:

It's drew contract negotiations x 5 basically.
Although Drew was a little less of a polarizing situation bc he wasnt on twitter saying things like, "whaaa...Why don't they wanna pay me? I'm so dissappointed" and expressing dissapproval at FO cutting people to make room for himself.
When we win, no one will say shite, but when we lose, we will be beat overt he head with "2 guys with 25% of the cap, what do you expect" threads.

Depends on how much he signs for and what that will prevent us from doing in the future. I know Loomis will work his magic though.

Depends on his contract number and cap hit. But no he's a douche who runs his mouth and has a propensity for stupidass antics. I dont like him very much.

Fans perception of the team has also changed. We've expected the offense to be great, and we've just been wishing for a middle of the road defense.
But we've jettisoned old and/or under-performing players, and replaced them with cheaper/better options in most cases. Our defense has a chance to be really special.
If it wasn't for this fact, I think fans would be more inclined to say "Pay the man" like with Drew.
For years it looked like you just weren't going to be able to play defense because of the rule changes being so slanted towards the offense, but defenses have seemingly adjusted. We saw one of the most prolific offenses in history be completely neutralized in the Super Bowl.
Keeping a great defense intact is our best chance for a second title.
