From a business side, I don't see why the MLB would want to help fund college programs with the existence of minor league programs. I don't know how much it would benefit a major league organization to help keep kids in college and try and turn them away from the draft out of HS.

In the grand scheme of things, I don't know that it would have a huge impact on MLB. They certainly wouldn't do something that would be detrimental to themselves financially.

It would really just be a better tool for evaluation. If college hitters were using wood bats, there wouldn't be any question if a player's skill set was the result of extra live bats.

But ultimately it was MLB's proposal so they must see it as beneficial.
