it's brand loyalty. it exists in just about everything produced for consumers.
People will defend their positions no matter how retarded they sound.

All Apple has to do to sell shite is come out with something named iPhone 6, put it in a different case, and have a few commercials. They don't have to go any further than that to have a billion in sales, and users will swear up and down that it is night and day faster than the 5

LG Optimus Pro, for me.
Was brand loyal to iphone even though i jailbroke it day one. Bought a gs2 that did everything my jaiobroken iphone did... havent looked back.
This outdated optimus pro I just got for free is years ahead of 90% of most of the phones on the market.
The IR blaster is shoukd be on every smart phone. But...office suites and screen size were the real pull toward android for me.
As for the pc vs mac argument... eh, I have a budget built pc in the living room thats four years old that trumps anything you can buy in a store these days...havent turned it on in at least six months.
I will admit to looking down on the sheeple who buy mac laptops...my wife uses one daily and Im tired of fixing the buggy arse OS every single night.

Smh. That's why bench mark tests exist. And yes.. New products have newer and faster internals. And yes they perform better. And yes an iphone 6 will be faster than an iphone 5.
Are you a moron by the way?

I'll readily admit I've mostly just owned Iphones because I know how to use them and haven't been presented with a good reason to change. I'm not a tech-savy person though. My next phone might be different just for the hell of it though. I'll probably just get something cheaper. I could probably buy a phone for 1/3 the cost that does all the stuff I need from a phone. Same with computers. I've bought essentially the same crappy HP laptop 3 straight times. I haven't run into a situation where it doesn't do what I need it to so I just stick with it.

It's funny how today's simplified criteria for a phone includes surfing the web. I remember in 2006 saying "I just want a phone that can make phone calls," but that definitely changed when surfing the web on the phone wasn't so cumbersome.
The blind loyalty to iPhone is perfectly understandable. It was the first of its kind to hit the mainstream market (large screen, multi-touch interface, direct finger input), so the immediate adopters included people who have never owned an Apple product in their lives, and iOS was a new interface for everyone. A year prior, most of these people, myself included, didn't even know they wanted a phone with legitimate internet browsing capabilities. So there's a combination of the "I know iOS and I like it" and the "I don't really know what I'm missing with other mobile OSes, so I don't care" mentality.

No dumb arse. Obviously that was too far above your head. Point was that they don't have to do anything special for people to buy the "new and improved" iPhones, and rant and rave how much better they are. They could have the same exact internals with a different case and people would brag about them.
That ties PERFECTLY, and I mean PERFECTLY, in with this thread.

You can find these exact people on Android. Lots of people out there that aren't aware of the ins and outs of technology on all brand loyalty sides. You would also have the Apple fanboys that are actually knowledgeable that would get extremely upset if Apple did try to pull something like this off. There are a good percentage that get mad about things Apple fails to do with each update and are willing to wait til the next phone release to see if they get it. Like the people who avoided the 4s because they wanted LTE.

I spend 10 hours a day working on a computer and still come home and get on the computer. Obviously it's not the same. I spend about 5 minutes of work time web surfing. I remember taking keyboard class back in 7th grade. They probably don't even have that class anymore because the average 12/13 year old kid can type better than their teachers now.

Apple has one OS. With Android, you have hundreds of different ROMs and setups that all run differently. I haven't ever met someone who is loyal to Samsung or Motorola, or any manufacturer of android phones. People switch because phones are actually better/faster/bigger screen/better camera.
Fanbois switch because something is new, not necessarily because it is better. Even if apple did pull the switcheroo, people would still wait in long lines and pay $600 for phones

As part of ongoing research into mobile phone purchasing decisions simonlycontracts.co.uk polled 2,275 iPhone owners and found a staggering 59% admitted “blind loyalty” to the handset. The definition was users who stated they would not even consider researching other handsets when upgrading in future. Asked why 78% said they “couldn’t imagine having a different type of phone now” while 52% said they were just “really impressed” with their iPhone.

I bought my MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone with my own money. Why do people care so much about what other people buy with their own money?
