Man, that brings up a sad memory for me. My cousin went the year before and saw Metallica open up for Ozzy on The Ultimate Sin tour at UNO. He barely even knew who Metallica was. He said they had the whole graveyard set up as they were touring for Master of Puppets.
Anyway, he said people were cheering for Metallica to come back out, pretty much stole the show. We all became fans right afterwards. Cliff Burton died just a few months after that...

Saw Better Than Ezra at Louie Louie on Birmingham's Southside on a Tuesday night before they were famous. There were maybe 10 people there. That was 20 years or so ago.
