Frank Wilson might have given a little insight on 2014 offense...

At about the 2:00 mark, Wilson hints that LSU will be in more spread formations. Zack was more of a pro style QB. Last year, they worked with Jennings on the things he does best. There won't be any new formations. It's just that we will see a lot of stuff that they practiced last year but didn't do in the games.
I really like the idea of spreading the field out more. It will open up more running lanes for the RBs. The biggest issue is preparing the young WRs. If the #3 and #4 WRs don't develop, we will likely see a lot more two-TEs.

Hidden Playbook!
Really though, good to see this. Not to :beatdeadhorse: but Crowton made the players adapt to the system and it hurt us. Cam's flexibility of adapting to personnel is going to pay big dividends.

Exactly!!! In Cameron, we will have a guy who can adapt his gameplan. Last year was Cameron's first time matching up with the SEC defenses. He will have a better understanding of what each DC likes to do. Having a QB with some running skills should help us sustain drives when the play breaks down. Desean Smith and Travis Dickson are both saying that the TE will be more involved and will be split out much more.
Supposedly, we were going to see more spread offense versus Iowa but with the sloppy field they decided to be more conservative.

How are we gonna run a spread with only a couple sure WRs

Maybe the coaches know more than we do?

All this pro style stuff has really gotten confusing. What is pro style? He'll in the Super Bowl you had a team that spreads you out vs a team that pounds you and hits you with misdirection, play action and a sprinkle of zone read.

I'm not opposed to more spread looks. I just don't want to be a spread team.

With Dupre, Chark, and Quinn coming in, it gives us 8 WRs. Plus Voorhies could possibly play WR as well.
In addition, Smith and Dickson both said that the TE will be flexed out more this year. It will be interesting to see how things develop.

Yep. That's why he's set to make the big bucks. Bigger than some NFL OCs. I think he'll be here as long as Les is if he doesn't get a NFL HC offer. He's not going to make an OC move back to the NFL.

I really like this look for LSU this upcoming season. It gives them a lot of versatility to run/pass and to make things easier for the new QB. I think we have the athletes to effectively run this formation and have multiple threats on the field. I also expect to see a lot more 2 back sets in the shotgun to use misdirection to our advantage.

If Harris is better, play him. Particularly if the spread is the way we go. Less reads/progressions. Harris would have similar responsibility as Mariota. Read option, minimal progression, use your athleticism.

Everyone needs to stop being so obsessed with who the QB is and worry more about what they do with their chances. We just need them to move the chains, protect the football, and show poise and leadership. We will win a lot of games that way with the team that has been built around the QB position.

Yeah, saw on Nola article where Miles was talking about getting Smith and true fresh Washington in on plays this year. Seems like Cam is taking aspects of the NFL and college game and forming something big. 2015 and 2016 will be a fun arse ride.

Pro formation - 2 WRs, 2RBs and a TE
Spread - 4 WRs and 1 RB
Jim Kelley's Buffalo Bill teams ran an offense similar to today's fast pace college offenses.
IMO, LSU will run a lot more 3 WR sets. Wilson said that we will still be a running team. Auburn spreads you out so they can run the ball. We won't look anything like Auburn. Just because we have an extra WR on field won't change the fact that Les wants to run ball down your throats.

Cam isn't a HC. Chavis isn't a HC. They both know this.
Both will be here as long as Les is.

How many NFL teams run out of a two back formation half of their plays or more? I know that's called Pro Style, but the fullback is pretty much obsolete in the NFL now.

All the top ten teams in the NFL have a bruising fullback. I wouldn't call it obsolete.
