I saw this on Yahoo just now...

So where do you think LSU (4 seed) end up finishing at? I like our chances if we could upset FSU in the sweet 16.

Can you imagine how awesome it would be if they actually did a 64 team playoff for football.

So. Much. Football. that would be incredibly kick arse! that would extend the season a good bit. too bad it'll never happen

It would be awful. Anything beyond 16 would be incredibly stupid. 6-8 teams would be legit.

The first two rounds would be blow outs for the most part.. I agree.. Still fun to think about though.

This thing would be feasible if they went back to a 9 or 10 game regular season. Right now the champion has to play 14 games. In the proposed lay out with a 10 game schedule they would only have to play 15. The two big problems would be the schools getting the revenue for the two lost games and all the nitpicking small arse conference "wanting their Champion" in it.
A 32 team playoff with a 11 game regular season would work really well. The first game of the playoff could be at the home of the higher seed. The rest of the games would all be played on neutral sites to raise additional money. It would be fun seeing #33 thru #50 scream and yell about being left out.

Anything beyond 16 teams will make the regular season near irrelevant and beyond 8 teams like a watered down 25 year single malt scotch.

It would be the entire season

64 is way to much you might as well not play a regular season and have a playoff right off the bat. if you had the full 12 game season 90% of bowl eligible teams would make it.

Yeah, really there's only usually 3 or 4 teams that belong in the discussion for NC. I'd like a 6 team playoff with top 2 getting a bye. Ranked by BCS formula. Voila.

Take the 5 big conference champs (SEC, PAC, BIG, Big 12, ACC). + Bama if not the SEC champ, of course.
Then 2 at-large. Simple, effective 8-team playoff.

As with the NFL. Having too many teams make the playoffs would water down the product.

LSU is in a tough region. LSU would not get past Southeastern Louisiana University.
