If that isn't a leftist hack piece then I don't know what is...

Apparently. Here are the solutions to the problem:

quote:

The two key solutions are to reduce economic inequality so as to ensure fairer distribution of resources, and to dramatically reduce resource consumption by relying on less intensive renewable resources and reducing population growth.

i wonder if the Romans and the Mayans had the same right/left arguments we're having today:

quote:

These are great suggestions that will, unfortunately, almost certainly never be put into action, considering just how far down the wrong path our civilization has gone. As of last year, humans are using more resources than the Earth can replenish and the planet's distribution of resources among its terrestrial inhabitants is massively unequal. This is what happened to Rome and the Mayans, according to the report.

historical collapses were allowed to occur by elites who appear to be oblivious to the catastrophic trajectory

Im no history buff so i have no idea what caused the fall of acnient civilizations, but if it was infact driven by resource limitations which were ignored by the government ruling bodies, then i would think its something that should be taken a little more seriously.

Ive always said we cannot have economic growth forever, and asked the question, when do we switch to economic maintenance?
