He's a decent basketball player dude, that's the sport he likes. I don't see this as the media doing anything. His bother in law is a major D 1 college coach for Petes sake. Your reaching for reasons now, but why when there's plenty of real reasons to dislike it make fun of him? Is it you're not intellectually independent

I thought Obama was half white ? So he can only Jump 50% on jump shots ?

Not in my opinion, it's just the cult of personality.

I agree...the problem is that we are plagued with people who want to be leaders who possess common sense when what we need are unique people with uncommon sense. Making the president look like a normal guy makes people comfortable but it is, in my opinion, insulting.

I have a friend who complains about the fact that the president doesn't change the oil in his car. WTF??? First of, who does anymore.....Jiffy Lube will do it for the price of the oil and the filter. But that isnt the point....do we really need the leader of the free world laying under a car under a tree on the whitehouse lawn changing the oil in his limo???? I don't want a normal guy for president...I want an abnormal guy with superior intellect and an unflappable character who is able to listen to people who are experts in their field and change his (or her mind) when they are wrong. We haven't had that guy in MANY, MANY, MANY years.....maybe since Harry Truman.....

They never report on what kind of score he shoots.
When Clinton was President an Ark news reporter said he shoots around 90 but he takes a mulligan per hold.

Hell, if I could take a mulligan per hole I'd shoot in the 70s.

The yearly presidential bracket has me pondering this. Obama is made out to be the world's biggest sports fan when he can't name a player off of the White Sox and he isn't athletic at all. (Throwing like a girl, clanking layups, etc.) He's obviously not the first president to like sports. (If he even does) Does it simply come down to the black basketball stereotype?

have we really stooped so low that we are criticizing the media for making him a sports fan of all things?

I wish you great luck with that. Let's break that down-Skip Obama, skip Bush-Clinton had a superior intellect and an abysmal character, skip Bush, Reagan has unflappable character, skip Carter, skip Ford, skip Nixon, REALLY skip LBJ,....

Using that criteria we may have to wait 75 years between guys who meet your criteria. No knocking you, just saying.

I'd settle for Unflappable Character, and an Intelligence noted for curiosity, flexibility and a respect for history, human nature, and emotional intelligence. That's what Reagan had, and maybe Kennedy as well. I don't require a Mensa member, I'd prefer a man of great intuitive intelligence about how human beings behave and what motivates them .To get more specific, an emotionally intelligent President who understand how human action and economics are intertwined. That's what we need now. Not a ideologue motivated by Marxist assumptions about wealth, class and race.

Obama is more of the band geek type of person.

Media tries to portray him to me more of an athletic type of guy because historically people want a president to be the all-american/soldier/man's man type of guy.

Because it's harder to portray him as a halfway decent President.

See this is the thing, im not trying to knock Obama here, im knocking people like you who spout crap like this without one shred of evidence to prove it. There is a video of him going something like 0-22, missing layups and crap horribly . If you have a video or anything, please anything backing up your claims i would love to see it so we can end this terrible thread
