Why are we paying for kids up to the age of 26?

Aren't these the people who we want paying into the system? The young healthy people are the ones we are depending on to pay for the old and infirm. Adding them to a family policy won't generate as much revenue. How does this make sense?

And why are we calling people past the age of adulthood kids?

Kids up to age 26 vote and its a low enough age to where people wont make too big of a fuss over it.

Nowadays so many kids at the age still live at home with their parents. They should be eligible to be on their parents policies.

Dude.
If you're still living at home at 26, I think that can officially be categorized as "failure to launch".

It's a new reality created by liberal progressives not unlike the new norm for unemployment, food stamps, government dependency in general.

You are old enough to drink, sign contracts, vote, etc and you still need your mommy and daddy pay for your insurance? Do you need then to cut your meat and wipe your mouth too?
The age 26 regulation is a pure political ploy as is all of this trainwreck.

One can't really answer any of the questions stemming from the ACA in an honest fashion.

Probably need to increase that age with the staggeringly awesome Osiah Job Growth.

I understand, but i think they were thinking "whats the highest age we can get away with to where people will start to question this too much"

In 2012, 36% of the nation’s young adults ages 18 to 31—the so-called Millennial generation—were living in their parents’ home, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data
In the case of this particular 36%, also known as the "Hipster slacker/Ill-equipped to take care of myself" generation.

Since your 30's are the new 20's then your 20's should still be on your parents
Posted on 3/19/14 at 12:04 pm to Jax-Tiger
Aren't they indirectly paying into the system via their parents' payments? Maybe that's why.

So young voters will ignore the fact that Obama's economy is why they can't get a job or can't get the job that they want (pay, career field, etc.).

Just a typical liberal mentality of trying to create more dependency while penalizing responsibility.
