Jackson PD did something like this during Christmas. I left a bag in the truck and I came back to a flyer on my windshield that said, "I could have broken into your car had I been a thief. - JPD".

They do things like this in the suburbs around Dallas. They don't actually search your car, just check to see if it would be an easy target for thieves. You can stop with all the 4th amendment complaining... if you have unlocked doors or valuables in plain sight, and someone tells you about it they are helping you, not violating your rights. Now if they actually searched through your car, that is a different story entirely.
