That's utter bullshite that eating healthy is expensive
~1800 calorie day for me:
Breakfast: ($0.53)
Steel cut oats (17 servings per container @~$4/container) = $0.25
2 eggs (18 eggs for $2.50) = $0.28
Snack #1 ($0.63)
Fuji Apple (a dozen for $7.50 at sams) = $0.63
Lunch ($1.78)
8oz chicken breast @ $2.00/lb at sams = $1.00
2 eggs $0.28
1 flat bread (6 flat breads for $3.00 at walmart) = $0.50
Snack #2 ($0.50)
Half an Avocado ($1/avocado) = $0.50
Dinner ($3.13)
6oz Salmon ($7/lb) = $2.63
1 bag of edamame ($4 for 8 bags) = $0.50
End of day shake ($1.10)
Half an avocado = $0.50
1 scoop of whey protein (a ON 100% whey 5lb tub on sale for $43, 72 servings) = $0.60
Whole day: $7.67
Funny thing is, that's some expensive food - the salmon, avocado, and whey. You could easily replace that with bananas, oranges, and turkey meat.
Hell, you could replace my flat bread that's pretty pricy for broccoli.

You could add avocados in all day and be fine. But a dressing with sugar will nullify what you think you're gaining by eating a salad

There’s only one thing I hate more than lying: skim milk. Which is water that’s lying about being milk.

How close to the coast are yal? Salt water from the storms over the years prob fricks yals yields a lil bit? Messing with the soil is what I am referring to.

we took over 1 farm that had gotten washed by rita about 3 years after it happened. we are the only ones to have planted it since. that land is probably 3 miles from the intercoastal
luckily, the large bulk of our farm is on the southern end (literally. other side of road is several feet lower) of a pretty big ridge. still gotta deal with salt water in canals.
But back on topic I used to eat the shite out of green soybeans when loading trucks to ship out

Are fat people complaining that eating healthy is expensive worse than skinny people complaining that eating healthy is expensive?
Posted on 3/18/14 at 12:19 am to Melvin
Yes because only one of the two mentioned is a weak willed, excuse making sob.

Beans, rice and some greens makes for a filling meal. It's good for you and much less expensive per calorie (much less per serving) than frozen chicken wings.

In all seriousness, it's a disease.
I just cant get on board with this way of thinking. Maybe its just semantics but labeling laziness or bad habits a "disease" cheapens the word disease and gives fat people an excuse.
obesity isn't contagious, its preventable, curable, and isn't caused by virus or bacteria or genetic condition. If obesity is a disease then any destructive habit can be a disease, which renders the word meaningless.

Plot twist
Imagine if you and those around you grew food.
Think about how that would impact the cost of healthy eating.
