For the record I am not insinuating Jones is as good of a coach as the criminally underrated Billy Donovan. Just pointing out how idiotic this thread is by comparing Jones in his second year to one of the nations best in Donovan in his 18th

fricking this.

I am so sick of reading all of these "fans" writing Jones off in freaking year 2. We lost 3 heartbreakers that probably would have gotten us in the tournament. We also had 3 freshmen on the court quite a bit of the season.

I am not very happy about how we looked at times either, but it's not like you can fix the mess trent johnson left in merely one full off-season. that's absurd

It does make it harder when you have that many freshman in major roles. Every once in a while you get a team like UK who can look great with freshman studs all over the court, but we're not on UK's level of recruiting. So hopefully, their best improvement will be from year one to year two.

I gave Trent a chance, but after a while you saw the program going down the toilet on a scale I've never seen before. But you saw it going the wrong way. We've got a long way to turn this around. But the difference is, you should be able to see the improvement down the road. We were in some games we would have been blown out of a few years ago. We've got good recruits coming in. There is some expectations being set for the team.

And I wasn't a huge fan of the hire originally. But he's doing a good job of turning the program around. He just needs to work on that game day coaching.
