Loved it when it was under warranty, fun to drive, descent looking crossover type suv.
Hated it when it was out of warranty. The smallest repairs cost a shite ton and seemed to happen very frequently. Now with that being said, it had issues under warranty but they fixed it and gave you a loaner car to use so it wasn't a big deal.
Conclusion.. Never own a BMW out of warranty.

I looked at one last year when I was looking for a new ride. The X5 was on top of my list with the Acura MDX at number 2.
The X5 drove amazingly and was really roomy and comfortable. The problem was the maintenance out of warranty like mentioned. I looked at one that had a headlight light on the dash and after doing research on it, it was about a $4k fix. It also bothered me that a spare tire is an option and you can't get a third row with the spare tire.
