Should the Rays move to Montreal?

I know people like to spout off Portland, San Antonio, and even Charlotte and LV for possible locations, but I think Montreal would be best.
* Portland is too small and I question their dedication to baseball.
* San Antonio would never happen because of the Texas sized hissy fits the Rangers and Astros would throw.
* Charlotte just isn't big enough to support baseball IMO.
* LV would never happen for obvious reasons. (gambling)
I know Montreal failed before, but with a franchise owned by Jeffrey Loria who sold every good player and had incompetent management, any city would fail. Montreal had tremendous attendance in their history. Also, Olympic stadium is a big fricking turd. PLus, attendance would be helped by playing in the same division as the Blue Jays.
Can't do worse than Tampa IMO. And don't give me the "St. Pete is the problem. Move the stadium to Tampa" BS. The Bucs are in tampa and have been blacked out often, even during the good years under Gruden. I think it's just that Florida is a lost fricking state when it comes to pro sports. Too many transplants.
As for the Marlins, they fricked with that new stadium. If that stadium hadn't been built though, a move to Orlando or Portland might have worked for them.

Houston needs a major league team.

Attendance just isn't as important as it once was, no reason to move the Rays other than that.

Austin.
Largest city in the country without a major pro franchise and our AAA team, the Round Rock Express, lead the minors in attendance regularly.

What about Vancouver? May be too close to Seattle, though

Attendance numbers and your owner indicate otherwise.
Across the bay may help, the tv ratings are pretty good in the area.
Since you're in the state of FL, do you think the Marlins would have a better chance to succeed if the stadium was in Orlando or South Broward Co as opposed to the retarded location in Little Havanna they chose?

This is a fact....

Texas doesn't need another team. The Rangers have averaged less than 65% attendance in the past 13 seasons and everybody knows about the Astros attendance lately.

Dallas and Houston don't = Texas buddy. IDGAF about nor really even like either of those cities.
Austin will eventually have multiple pro teams. The first one to move here will be the most loved and they WILL be supported, I can promise you that.

The Carolina's love some baseball. Canada, not so much.

Well let's look at the Longhorns attendance lately.

The drive from Tampa to St. Pete is a long one especially when you factor in traffic after a long day at work. We get killed attendance wise M-F. Saturday and Sunday are great attendance wise. We can get 30,000 fans in the Trop for a weekend game...or any Red Sox, Yankees game. I'm not saying we are but you might see a nice chunk of real estate bought up in downtown Tampa by the Forum within the next 5-7 years. As for Miami, that has been a cluster frick for a long time now. I personally think Miami does not deserve any professional sports franchise because of the fair weather fans and lack of support from the city. There is no doubt in my mind that a team could do well in Orlando. Location would be the key though because Orlando is so spread out and I4 which runs straight through the city is a nightmare. I've lived in Orlando and worked for Disney too.

It sounds like you've got an agenda and that's fine I guess but I'm not going to waste any more time with you. The facts are the facts and anyone who doesn't think Austin would support a major pro team in any sport save maybe the NHL is delusional.

I have no agenda, but don't preach to me about Texas and call me buddy like I have no idea what I'm talking about. I was born in Texas. Have lived in multiple cities in Texas. My entire family is from Texas. I understand Texas, the state's politics, sports allegiances, etc.

I was in Montreal last week, it was 8 degrees below zero. Their baseball stadium was built for the Olympics in '76. Hank Aaron was still playing when that stadium was built.
