Free alarm system scam?

A legit alarm system company said our house was selected for a free alarm system for 5 years. Has to be a scam. Anyone else know more about this?

I wouldn't trust it. Sounds a lot like a self ban bet.

A crap load of companies will install the basic system for free if you sign a contract for monitoring for X number of years.
Then they try to sell you a bunch of upgrades.

Guy said our house was chosen because it's a corner lot and the installation, system, and fees would be free for five years. It's a legit company, but there's got to be something else to it.

If it is Vivint do it. They came by my house and I turned them down, but later ended up paying for their service. They are probably trying to get part of the market in your neighborhood.

Everyone is selected. They will install a basic system on your doors and a select number of windows contingent on you signing a monthly service contract. Think free cell phone with 2 year agreement.

It is. Any issues with the service so far?

quote:No, works great with a lot of programing options. The only downside is they were going to install smoke alarms as well, but they did not have a qualified tech to install them.

They have programmable keypads on the doors, so if you have young kids they don't have to have a key to enter, plus you can give them their very own code.

When they knocked on my door and told me my house had been selected because of location and told me it was free. I told him no thanks. (sounded to good to be true). Later I found out a friend of ours had just recently purchased the system and was pleased with their product.

Two of our neighbors agreed to the free system. I'm naturally skeptical and the guy didn't even have a business card or phone number to contact him. He literally was waiting for me when I got home. And there are a ton of scam reports for the company.
Were they going to make you sign a contract?

That's my biggest concern. 5 years, free installation, free system, and no fees sounds too good to be true.

Jesus some of those reviews sound like a nightmare

So you didn't actually read what you signed then. Got it.
