Love the guy's motivation and work ethic. I hope it rubs off on the other guys as well. Not saying the others don't bust their azzes, but Bregman really puts the work in and you can't help but respect someone like that.

Bregman 389/511/528 19 total bases

Turner 366/440/390 16 total bases (15 singles)

Way too small a sample size to judge. Especially considering LSU has played Yale, Grambling, SLU and UNO. While NC St has played Elon, Michigan, and UCLA.

Regardless, Turner is a different player than Bregman. Many scouts and even his coaches want him to focus more on getting on base and stealing instead of trying to hit HRs. He has pop, but he tends to try to focus on the HR too much and it causes him to slump. He is much better getting on base and being a table setter with his speed.

Still doesn't mean Bremgan is going top 5. His position and lack of athleticism really makes that a long shot.

I'd imagine that the best 2nd baseman were athletes drafted from the shortstop position and moved over to 2nd.

Oh, I guess you got me. I guess I'm completely wrong because a sample size of 10-11 games is meaningful.

Turner is the superior SS. Bregman has the superior bat, though their offensive styles are completely different from one another. You people are really dense.

True. But these are guys that the MLB clubs thought could stick at SS and then were forced to move over around high A ball or maybe even AA.

Guys projected to be 2B, usually won't go top 5 or 10 unless their bat (the power in particular) is elite. Bregman's bat may be special, but his power is not elite. Probably a 55-60 on the 20-80 scale at it's best. He will definitely be a top 25 pick barring injury or unforeseen circumstances.

I have to disagree on that point. Many guys are taken as "middle infielders" and they are generally the best athletes from their teams and thus are the shortstops. Also, I think a guy who can hit a 70-75 for average at either middle infield position does not require anything more than a 50 in the power category assuming they are a solid defender. That's my opinion.

HCB got banned? If so, for what? That guy is awesome during baseball season.

I agree.

I agree, but are you saying that's top 5 worthy? I'm not sure that it is. Maybe in an incredibly weak draft class, so there is a chance, but it's doubtful.

I'll chime in an leave it at that.

Bregman is a rare breed, a leader, a hustler, a mentor. Not even into the first month of his sophomore season and Alex is already the defined leader in the locker room.

If/when Bregman is taken in round 1 of the MLB draft it's going to leave a huge void in the lineup. More so emotionally due to the way Alex plays and coaches up teammates around him.

I'll be the first to admit Bregman hasn't played to his potential thus far through 11 games, but maybe there lies the problem...his potential is off the charts and will constantly be judged so.

For now sit back and enjoy the ride, this team hasn't come close to hitting it's peak.

It was a 4 out of 10 on the how bad was it level.

Some guy after the Sunday Yale game passed out in a parking lot and wasn't breathing. Someone asked what happened and HCB said something to the effect that "he watched us lose to Yale."

Maybe, maybe not. We still don't know what his ceiling is just yet in a few aspects of the game. But he does have a work ethic and baseball IQ that can only be matched, not surpassed.

Anytime someone posts about a potential life threatening situation, it's normally best to stay out as admins tend to bring out the big guns for those threads.

As far as the team goes, it's way too early to say they aren't NC caliber. Fans need to realize that baseball isn't like basketball/football and that you can lose to anybody- especially if your starter has a terrible outing.

The starting pitching really worries me outside of Nola. It's just a whole lot of question marks. Team kind of reminds me of 2010 though. A decent lineup with some pretty good hitters, 1 stud pitcher (though Nola won't have the year Ranaudo did that year-yikes) but with a whole lot of question marks in the pitching staff. Hopefully this team does better than the 2010 team.

hell, Fresno made an incredible run in 07. It's not over till it's over in college baseball. When a team gels, it's an incredible thing to see. You just gotta hope it happens at the right time.

It's BS bc no one can actually prove that this event occurred so Basically HCB got banned for saying something about an incident that was verified by word of mouth, no link, anything
