OT Mechanics: 2000 GMC Sierra 6.5 Diesel won't start

I need help.
The fuel tanks are full. I have checked the fuel pump. It's working. I have checked all of the fuses and the glow plug relays and wiring. They all look good. I have primed it to the best of my ability. I'm lost at this point.
Update:
Changed the fuel filter...
It still won't start.

Stick that cowbell up your arse and try to start it again.

It's turning over. It will actually fire some times. It just won't start.

you check the fuel filter?

Yes, it was pretty bad. I am going to change it. I just didn't think it would keep it from running all together.

Seems like the fuel line is clogged, change that filter
Posted on 3/4/14 at 10:58 am to prairiedog
that might be tripping the emergency fuel shut off if it's really bad
either that or it's just really really clogged up

It also sounds like it could be a bad PMD. PMD is an electronic device a bit larger than a deck of cards on the side of the IP.

wouldn't it still run if it was going bad though?

I would change the fuel filter asap.

Did you check the lift pump? A 6.5 will start on a very dirty fuel filter. There is module attached to the intake manifold that can cause starting/stalling issues when it starts to fail. GM, in their infinite wisdom, decided placing a heat sensitive part in a hot location was not a bad idea. Common fix is to buy a new module, lengthen the wiring harness, and mount the new one behind the head light housing.

injectors or glow plugs, same thing happened to my 2003 ...sold it.

I'm going to replace fuel filter and see if that works. I guess I'll take it to a professional if that doesn't work.

Do those have a water separator?
