Ender's Game is sooooo much different in tone and much less adult (dramatic) in nature compared to the latter books. You deal with an older Ender in the later ones as he lives with his actions in (almost) annihilating an entire race.

The Shadow books (about Bean - who is supposed to be just as or smarter than Ender) are better for those looking for similar storytelling. As for the romance, it didn't bother me, for I didn't see a future with it - for in my mind, I know Petra ends up with Bean . . . eventually.

For a movie, if made, they had mentioned inventing another story between Ender's Game and Speaker, just to bridge the different aspects of the story. I just don't see it working.

Some of these films are so difficult to make and will never satisfy everyone. Sorta like the Foundation series - I know they making them, but to me, you can't make them without first making the old Elijay Bailey detective novels (which I think would be awesome on film) and how one character from those evolved into a central character in the Foundation series. It would be EPIC!!!

I just realized how nerdy I was/am. I loved these stories - they became a major part of me "just reading for myself" as a teen and a man in his early 20s.

I thought the movie sucked also because the movie missed on nearly all aspects of the book. It hardly focused on Enders internal struggles through training, missed on the brother/sister scheming going on, etc. It was all just so rushed and with little drama.
