Does specs taste similar to rainbow trout?

Not at all. Rainbow trout is much, much better.

Fun fact: brook trout aren't actually trout.

No not at all. Specs taste more like a walleye or other white flesh fish.

Way, way better tasting in my opinion.

No. IMHO
Spec tastes better, better texture
Rainbows, never developed a taste. Don't fight as good either...
