Run/walk for a minute each 7-8x total isn't exactly going to kill him. And his 1 minute of running can be at whatever pace is comfortable to him.

bw workouts ae fine but at his size it would be extremely difficult to be able to perform very much.

and to those that say interval training is stupid at that size....no it isn't. His intervals are not going to be as fast or as long as those in shape and his rest intervals will be longer. But he can still do them and he should. Much easier on the body then long distance.

and light weight for reps burns less calories then lifting heavy and will have less of an effect on strength levels which will not have as big of a effect on his quality of life.
